Snowpocalypse: The Threequel
Well, Pennsylvania has effectively proved me. On top of Saturday’s storm, which lasted roughly twenty hours, today brings us twenty-one hours and counting. The wet snow that started around 7pm yesterday has been replaced by dry, light snow. There’s wind, and I saw a few downed tree branches this time around, but thus far we don’t appear to be in danger of losing power.

My place of work pretty much gave up any pretense and told us all yesterday, around 2pm, to take the day off today. The same appears to be true of most of my neighbors as many of them were decidedly not at work, but out shoveling their driveways earlier. Knowing in advance that I didn’t have to go anywhere was definitely a bonus this time around.
The dog continues to be thrilled. He’s made his own rule about walking in the snow, which in his mind negates the usual rule about not being allowed to bite the humans’ clothing and ankles.
Everything continues to be silent and beautiful. The snow continues to fall. I did change out of my pajamas this time. I still have no regrets. I even managed to be marginally productive today, for varying values of productive: I walked the dog, caught up on tivoed shows, worked on some writing, did some laundry, and drank some hot chocolate made from my dad’s homemade mix (it was delicious, thanks, Dad!).

Hope those of you who are in the storm-area are enjoying your snow day as much as I am. According to the forecast, some time this evening, we’ll get upgraded from snow to chance of snow. Rock on, snowpocalypse, rock on!

I…cannot…shovel…anymore…
I’ve hit my breaking point on the snow. I haven’t left my house since last Friday. I still need to shovel the sidewalks, which I’m dreading as there are large drifts in places. Maybe I can act out the scene where Aragorn and Boromir help the hobbits through the mountain passes…
More snow on Monday!

That’s one really nice thing about living in a townhouse with a Home Owner’s Association. The monthly dues are all worth it when a gigantic snowstorm hits. Good luck! I can lend you Pippin, he loves play-acting his namesake in the snow (with slightly more bouncing than an actual hobbit).
