Year-End Round Up 2013: Writing

This is the last of my year-end wrap-up posts, I promise! Since my final short story for the year went live over the weekend at Three-Lobed Burning Eye, it seemed an appropriate time to gather together everything I had published in 2013. Looking at them all together like this, it was a pretty damned good year. Just as a general FYI, not a suggestion, everything here is eligible for all the usual awards in the short story category. If anyone is interested in reading anything that isn’t readily available online for award consideration, drop me a note in the comments or send me an email (a.c.wise at hotmail), and I’ll happily provide a copy.

Year-End Wrap-Up 2013: Editing

Ah, December, the month when editors and authors’ minds turn to year-end wrap-ups of things they’ve accomplished over the year. Being both an author and an editor, and a reader to boot, I’ll be doing three year-end wrap-up posts, to cover things I edited, things I wrote, and things I read. To kick things off, I’ll start with editing.

Unlikely Story published three full-length issues this year, a first for us. With the exception of one reprint, everything we published this year is original and thus eligible in the short story category for all the standard awards. Of course, I’m biased, but I’m incredibly proud of these stories, and if you haven’t read them already, I hope you’ll take the time to catch up on what you’ve missed.
